In December 2025, unique data on integration and migration in the Nordic region was updated with recent figures, revealing an increase in the foreign-born population across all Nordic countries. The number of foreign-born individuals from Europe - and Ukraine in particular - has risen substantially following Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022.

Women are more likely to attain tertiary education than men in all Nordic countries. Despite this educational advantage, men have higher gross hourly earnings than women on average. Differences in educational choices among men and women may serve as partial explanations for these wage differences. However, the wage gap is persistent within a broad range of economic sectors. Other potential confounding variables, such as specific job roles and years of experience are also likely to play a role.
The Nordic Statistics Database
Nordic Statistics is a collection of comparative Nordic statistics which has existed and been funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers since the mid-1960s. The Nordic Statistics database contains about two hundred matrices.
The data is gathered from the Nordic Statistical Institutes (NSIs), the Nomesco-Nososco committees, other Nordic statistics producers as well as international sources such as Eurostat, OECD and the UN. For more details read here.
